Denham Film Studios – Director’s Screening Room

Film Studio Now

One of Upholstery Express’ largest, and most recent undertakings was the complete production of several luxury chairs for the fully refurbished Directors Screening Room as part of Weston Homes Denham Film Studio development in Buckinghamshire.

The development of 224 new homes and apartments consists of the full-scale refurbishment of the world-famous Denham Film Studios, filming location of over 25 cinema classics, including the 1946 adaptation of the Dickens classic ‘Great Expectations’, and 1950’s ‘Treasure Island’, starring Bobby Driscoll and Walter Fitzgerald.

One of the key features of the redevelopment was the renovation of many previously existing features, including the room in which many of the productions were screened for Directors and Cast.

We were approached to create seating for the Directors Screening Room in-keeping with the project’s art deco aesthetic, designed to replicate the look and feel of the era in which the film studios had its heyday.

Using plush velvet, luxury cushioning, high-quality metal bases and durable frames, we were able to create premium theatre seating that sang the justice of the luxurious surroundings in which they are now housed.

We are incredibly grateful to Weston Homes for allowing us to be a part of such a unique project and are hugely proud of the work that we produced for such a prestigious development.
